Voor het zoeksysteem dat in veel bibliotheken in Nederland wordt gebruikt, zie PIM-systeem (bieb).Met het PIM-systeem zoek je zonder zoekwoord of als je niet weet hoe je iets schrijft. Dit systeem op WikiKids is afgeleid van het PIM-systeem dat in de bibliotheken in Nederland wordt gebruikt. Technisch gesproken is PIM het Product Information Management (PIM) ofwel de index van WikiKids.

In het PIM-systeem van WikiKids wordt gewerkt met gekleurde pictogrammen en rubrieken die de portalen en subportalen aangeven.
