Introductie
Afrika is het tweede grootste continent (na Azië) op onze planeet Aarde. Wanneer men Zuid-Amerika en Noord-Amerika (Amerika) gezamenlijk als een continent beschouwt, hoort Afrika op de derde plaats. Samen met Europa en Azië vormt het een kolossale landmassa. Er liggen hier veel landen, wel 53 en daarvan zijn Egypte en Kenia het bekendst. Een groot deel van de wereldbevolking woont in dit prachtige continent, wel meer dan 1 miljard mensen (een 7de van de wereldbevolking die op dit moment rond de 7 miljard bedraagt). Leuke weetjes over Afrika
- De hoogste berg in Afrika is de Kilimanjaro met 5895 meter hoog (bij de grens van Tanzania met Kenia, bezit van Tanzania).
- De Nijl (een rivier in Afrika) is de langste rivier ter wereld met 6695 km.
- Één van de grootste meren ter wereld én het grootste meer van Afrika is het Victoriameer met 69.484 km².
- 's Werelds grootste woestijn (de Sahara) ligt hier.
- In het jaar 2010 wordt voor het eerst een WK Voetbal gehouden in Afrika, namelijk in Zuid-Afrika.
- Afrika is het (w)armste continent op aarde.
- Het land met de meeste piraten op dit moment is Somalië in Afrika.
- Jaarlijks kunnen die piraten wel honderden miljoenen Amerikaanse dollars inwinnen door schepen te beroven.
