New Mexico is een van de vijftig staten van de Verenigde Staten. De staat ligt in het zuiden van het land. De afkorting van New Mexico is NM. De bijnaam is 'Land of Enchantement'. Dat betekent 'Land van Betovering'.
Met 2.082.224 inwoners is New Mexico de op 35 na meest bevolkte staat van de VS.
New Mexico grenst aan de staten Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Colorado en Utah. Ook grenst het aan buurland Mexico.
In New Mexico is het heel droog. De staat ligt dan ook in de woestijn.
De hoofdstad van New Mexico is Santa Fe.
