De Star Alliance is een samenwerkingsverband (alliantie) tussen verschillende wereldwijde luchtvaartmaatschappijen.

De alliantie is opgericht op 4 mei 1997 door de luchtvaartmaatschappijen United Airlines, Lufthansa, SAS, Air Canada en Thai Airways International. Van vijf leden toen heeft de Star Alliance er nu maar liefst 27. Ze vliegt naar 1329 luchthavens in 194 landen met een vloot van in totaal 4570 vliegtuigen! De alliantie is daarmee groter dan de andere allianties op het gebied van luchtvaart, SkyTeam (met o.a. KLM en Delta Air Lines) en Oneworld (met o.a. British Airways en Qantas).

De slogan van het bedrijf is 'The Way The Earth Connects'. Het hoofdkantoor zit in Frankfurt am Main, Duitsland. Daar zit ook het hoofdkantoor van de belangrijkste luchtvaartmaatschappij in de alliantie, Lufthansa.
