Een Nationaal park is een natuurgebied. De mens is er wel welkom voor recreatie, maar de natuur staat voorop. De eerste parken ontstonden in 1865 in de Verenigde Staten. De eerste nationale parken in Nederland ontstonden in de jaren dertig. In 1930 stichtte Natuurmonumenten het Nationaal Park Veluwezoom.
