- naam: artikelnaam
- logo: logo van het besturingssysteem, indien beschikbaar onder een vrije licentie

- ontwikkelaar: ontwikkelaarsteam of bedrijf
- familie: de meeste besturingssystemen zijn Unix-achtig (Linux, BSD, Mac OS X). Grote uitzondering vormt Windows.
- bronmodel: closed source of FOSS (free and open source software)
- laatste uitgave versie: de meest recente versie van het besturingssysteem
- laatste uitgave datum: de datum horend bij de laatste versie
- codenaam: de letternaam gebruikt als alternatief voor het versienummer
- laatste beta versie: de meest recente bèta- of alfaversie. RC's mogen ook vermeld worden hier.
