The rise of Wordfeud in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, Wordfeud became known in August 2011. Its popularity increased after an update on October 4, 2011, in which the dictionary was improved. From that moment on, the game grew into a true hype. The original dictionary was provided by Opentaal and later supplemented by Taaltik.
How do you play Wordfeud?
In Wordfeud you try to score as many points as possible by laying words with the 7 letters you get. The most important rules of the game are:
- Time: You have 72 hours to lay a word. If you don't play anything within this time, your opponent automatically wins.
- Bonus points: If you lay all 7 letters in one turn, you will receive 40 bonus points.
- Game Over: The game ends when a player runs out of letters. The opponent's remaining letters are subtracted from his score.
Special boxes and point multipliers
By cleverly using the special squares on the game board you can earn extra points. These squares work as follows:
Box | Effect |
---|---|
DL | 2× the literal value |
TL | 3× the literal value |
DW | 2x the word value |
TW | 3x the word value |
With a combination of tactics and word knowledge you can maximize your score and beat your opponent!
